Trent has extensive experience working with both adolescents and adults. His primary areas of clinical focus are: Couples, trauma, addictions/substance misuse, sex and sexuality, anxiety, depression, grief, and post-divorce counseling. Trent earned his master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University and also holds a master’s in education.
Trent utilizes numerous methods to lead clients find their best self through the use of person-centered therapy (Rogerian Therapy), solution focused therapy (SFT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), music therapy as well as other empirically proven methods. These methods are individualized to meet the person where they are in life. Trent incorporates psychoeducation to help individuals better understand the link between neurobiology and the emotional and cognitive reactions.
Trent has a background in education with K-12 students as well as college instructing. He helped his students succeed by drawing on and focusing on their strengths to promote and encourage their learning. He utilizes this approach in counseling as well. He helps people find the strengths in them that will enable them to learn the tools and skills necessary to be successful in achieving their individual goals.
