Karen Barnes, LPCC-S
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor
Co-owner, TCP
Karen Barnes is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisor designation (LPCC-S). Since getting her independent licensure in 2001, she has worked in a variety of settings. Karen initially began her career working with at-risk children in a residential setting. She went on to working with women and children who had experienced abuse/trauma. From there, she worked with women and youth struggling with drug and/or alcohol issues, and ran an intensive outpatient program in collaboration with Drug Court. Before entering private practice, her focus had been working directly in a school setting, addressing a wide variety of problems that teenagers and their families have. Karen has experience in individual and group counseling. She also has experience providing clinical supervision for graduate students at Xavier University. She favors using a solution-focused approach. She sees her role in working with clients as a collaborative one, where she supports them in addressing and changing behaviors and thoughts that are impeding their daily functioning, or their sense of well being. Karen is able to use a Christian-based approach to counseling for those who are interested.
